The Heart of a Man
How do you reach into the Heart of a man,
Into matters of the heart he doesn’t understand?
A pain to feel his hidden spot of splendor,
Buried in the depths his heart warm & tender.
Phantom reflections of disowned disdain,
His offspring Hell hounds pounding pain.
Forged in flesh by cosmic blunder,
A fractured family torn asunder.
Blood bonds broken in strife times’ plunder,
Stripped & seized of a lifetime’s wonder.
Just a fleeting taste of sweet forgiveness,
A soothing salve to soften his soul!
For his own offspring he won’t give this,
For his aching, throbbing, heartache hole.
A dove’s lost heart broken & bitter,
Family ties forever forsaken.
Lost Love’s carnage strewn like litter,
Bonds of blood seized & taken.
What does it take for a man to be shaken,
To stir his heart’s longing to awaken?
Will he turn to the mirror and face his own reflection,
Will he spurn his own fear or his hearts resurrection?
What will it take to claim this cost,
The anguish and torment of a family’s paradise lost?
